Creative Writing Workshop is 90 minutes of lightly directed writing to a theme.

This session, the theme is Absence.

What we do: explore the theme through a series of prompts. Writers will have progressively more time to respond to each one. If an old prompt resonates more than the next, you are welcome to stick with it!

We write together in companionable silence. Music is great! But in this space, we ask that it be a personal experience with headphones. The host will only interrupt with time markers and the next prompt. At the end, you can share what you’ve written. Choosing instead to offer space to hear others is just as welcome.

A note: this is not an editing workshop. We will not be offering feedback, but rather focusing on generating new writing. We can explore feedback workshops in the future if enough participants express interest.

Bring yourself and something to write with. Laptop, notebook, phone–whatever helps you think. No experience necessary. No pressure to share. Just curiosity about your voice and the perspectives you can speak to.

And just to reiterate, all levels welcome. Especially you, thinking, “I’m not really a writer.” You are. Come find out.
